# Connect your AI assistant

Connect ChatGPT, Claude, or another assistant to WorldAgents, then ask it to create agents from your documents, update instructions, or organize your files. The connection uses MCP (Model Context Protocol), a standard way to connect AI assistants to apps.

## Get connected

1. Sign in to WorldAgents and open **AI connections** in your account menu, or go to [AI connection settings](/settings/connections).
2. Choose your assistant. If you turned connections off earlier, choose **Enable connections** first.
3. Copy the **Connection link** and paste it into your assistant's setup, following the steps shown.
4. Sign in to WorldAgents when your assistant asks, and choose **Allow connection**.

To check it worked, ask: "List my WorldAgents organizations." You can disconnect an assistant, or turn off all AI access, on the same settings page.

### ChatGPT

In [ChatGPT Plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins), add a custom MCP server named **WorldAgents** with your connection link and OAuth sign-in. Create and install the plugin, then pick WorldAgents with `@` in a chat. See [OpenAI's guide](https://developers.openai.com/plugins/deploy/connect-chatgpt).

### Claude

In [Claude Connectors](https://claude.ai/customize/connectors), add a custom connector named **WorldAgents** with your connection link. Choose **Sign in now** and **Register automatically**, then turn the connector on in your conversation. In a team workspace an owner may need to add it first. See [Claude's guide](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-get-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp).

### Other assistants

Use a remote MCP connection with OAuth and automatic registration. If your assistant only accepts a token, choose **Other**, then **Manual setup with an access token**. Treat the token like a password.

## What your assistant can do

- Browse, read, and search your organizations' files, including pictures.
- Create, edit, move, delete, upload, and download files.
- Create agents (from scratch or a template), update their instructions, and publish them.
- Read how people's sessions with an agent went.
- Create spaces, look at them, and change what is placed in them.

It acts with your permissions, in the organizations you belong to, and gives you links to what it worked on. There is no read-only mode yet. It cannot run system commands or paid space operations such as image generation.

The same tools power [Builder](/features/agent-builder) inside the app.

## Private links

A WorldAgents link alone gives an assistant no access, so it may see a sign-in page or an error. Connect the assistant and ask it to look at the organization's files instead.

## Technical

- The hosted MCP endpoint is `https://api.worldagents.com/mcp`; other deployments show theirs in settings. Cloud assistants need a server reachable from the internet.
- Sign-in is OAuth with automatic client registration, so your password stays in WorldAgents. Manual access tokens are shown once and work only for MCP.
- Turning access off disconnects every assistant; after turning it on again, reconnect them.
- Membership is checked on every call, and changes are logged.
- The `help` tool explains WorldAgents, file paths, and creating and publishing agents.
- This guide is public, also as [Markdown](/mcp.md), and every WorldAgents page links to it.
